MPHI’s Office of Accreditation and Quality Improvement, in partnership with Debra Tews, Performance Improvement Manager at the Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH), developed the Michigan Department of Community Health Quality Training Plan for MDCH’s Public Health Administration (PHA). This plan establishes a framework for assuring that the PHA adequately trains and supports employees in quality improvement and performance management. This training plan also lays the groundwork to help move PHA towards developing a culture of quality and implementing a performance management system that spans the administration.

In order to help health departments evaluate their Community Health Assessment, Community Health Improvement Plan, Quality Improvement Plan, Performance Management Plan, and Strategic Plan against PHAB standards, MPHI’s Office of Accreditation and Quality Improvement developed the following checklists. These can be used to see where your assessment and plans align with PHAB requirements, and record where gaps exist. Additionally, these tools can be used by an individual or during a group review.
